On Saturday, October 12, 2019, the starting signal will be given for the third edition of the Dutch Classic bicycle race: the Tacx Pro Classic.

The Tacx Pro Classic has strong roots in the cycling history of Zeeland, including monuments like the “ Kattendijksedijk” (a dike known for its crosswinds), the Zeelandbrug (a 6-kilometre-long bridge across the Oosterschelde), and the “Oosterscheldekering”. The predecessors of this new Classic are the “Ronde van Midden-Zeeland”, the “Delta Tour Zeeland”, and the “Zeeland Seaports Classic”.

The Tacx Pro Classic is a one-day classic bicycle race for professional cyclists through the rural landscape of the Dutch province of Zeeland. The remarkable finish location is at “Neeltje Jans”, an artificial peninsula in the sea. This is near the location where the Tour de France finished in 2015, in that memorable stage characterized by typical Zeeland weather conditions. The final stage of the Tacx Pro Classic will be held on the “Oosterscheldekering” and will pass three times, ensuring an unrivalled event for both the riders and public.

We will offer cycling tourists a special version of the professional tour, with various distances largely following the official Pro track. There will be plenty of “après-cycling” opportunities, including the possibility to witness the professionals finish.

The Tacx Pro Classic deserves a prominent place in every cyclist’s calendar. For cycling tourists, it offers a unique moment to enjoy and watch local, national, and international cycling heroes.

The 12th of October will mark the official closing of the European cycling season, and for the coming years we have the ambition to maintain that declaration. With the support of lead sponsor Tacx, as well as co-sponsors among the Province of Zeeland, local communities, and Zeeland’s entrepreneurs, we cherish the ambition to become the second-largest classic cycling event in the Netherlands.

We are proud of our roots and keen to demonstrate that. We wish everyone – whether a professional cyclist, a cycling tourist, or a spectator – a joyful experience in Zeeland on October 12th as they witness the Tacx Pro Classic.
